New and Improved Formula!
If you spend much time at all on a bike, you know that one of the most important pieces of equipment you need is a cream that helps protect that particular area where "skin meets seat." Suffering from chafing and saddle sores is no fun at all but with Hammer Nutrition's Skin Saver, your skin has its ultimate ally to defend against such unpleasantries.
Unlike conventional chamois creams, Skin Saver contains a wide range of fully natural, scientifically supported, “skin-specific” ingredients that provide lubrication, anti-chafing support, and antibacterial protection. Skin Saver is extremely easy to use—try it instead of your current chamois cream! Before cycling, apply a thin layer to the areas of skin that contact the bicycle saddle, as well as to the chamois surface on the inside of your shorts. Reapply as needed; remember that a little goes a long way.
Although Skin Saver was designed primarily for cyclists, that doesn’t mean only they can use it. On the contrary: as a powerful anti-chafing and antibacterial cream, runners, triathletes, and other endurance athletes will also find it ideal for protecting the skin against the discomfort of friction-induced irritation.
Ingredients:
Grapeseed oil, Aloe vera gel, Beeswax, orange-peel wax, shea butter, Grapefruit seed extract, aqua, glycerin, stearic acid, sodium stearate, chamomile extract, vitamin E, Gluconolactone (and) Sodium Benzoate, essential oils of tea tree, lavender, basil, lemon, sage, and clove.
Grapeseed oil – Composed of fatty acids, phenols, and other compounds such as vitamin E. Hydrating, contains antioxidants and omega-6 fatty acids, provides protection against sun damage, is non-comedogenic, and can pass through pores.
Aloe vera gel – Approximately 98.5% water. May contain up to 75 active constituents such as vitamins, minerals, enzymes, sugars, lignin, saponins, salicylic acids, amino acids, vitamins A, C, E, B12, folic acid, and choline. Moisturizing, protective for the skin, and antibacterial.
Beeswax – Non-comedogenic, passes through pores, offers antibacterial benefits, moisturizes, creates a protective barrier, and is rich in vitamin A, which is known to improve skin condition and enhance elasticity.
Orange-peel wax – Non-comedogenic, passes through pores; its minor constituents are known for antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. A recycled by-product of the fruit-juice industry: wax derived from orange peels that acts as an emollient, shields, hydrates, and lubricates the skin. A vegan alternative to lanolin (sheep fat) with similar softening and moisturizing properties.
Shea butter – Composed of fatty acids and vitamins A, D, and E. Contains triglycerides (the fatty portion of the shea nut) that nourish and condition the skin. Cetyl esters are the waxy portions of the shea nut that condition and lock in moisture. Phytosterol- and allantoin-like antioxidants help with irritation. Linoleic acid, also known as omega-6, supports skin renewal.
Grapefruit seed extract – An antioxidant rich in beta-carotene that hydrates the skin and improves circulation. Antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal. Reduces harmful bacteria and supports beneficial bacteria.
Aqua – The Latin name for water. Used primarily as a solvent to combine ingredients.
Glycerin – Vegetable glycerin is produced from plant fats, water, and sometimes lye. A humectant and emollient: draws water into the skin and helps retain moisture. Protects the skin and supports the regeneration of the skin’s barrier.
Stearic acid – A long-chain fatty acid that functions as an emollient, emulsifier, and lubricant. Moisturizes by forming a protective layer on the skin to prevent moisture loss. Also serves as a binding agent. Occurs naturally in shea and cocoa butter.
Sodium stearate – A white, fatty acid salt. Can be derived from natural sources such as coconut oil or animal fats. A versatile ingredient: cleanses, thickens, and emulsifies. Imparts water-resistant properties to sunscreens and lip balms.
Chamomile extract – A botanical extract of chamomile flowers; antibacterial and antifungal. Its polyphenols are antioxidants that help prevent environmental damage by fighting free radicals and tighten pores.
Vitamin E – A humectant and emollient that helps the skin take up and retain water; may offer protection against sun damage, soothes chapped lips, and protects the skin by neutralizing free radicals with its antioxidants.
Gluconolactone – A naturally occurring white crystalline substance used in foods and skincare. Does not penetrate beyond the skin’s first layer; used as a chemical exfoliant and moisturizer.
Sodium benzoate – A white, crystalline powder used primarily as a preservative in foods. Composed of benzoic acid and sodium hydroxide. Benzoic acid occurs in cinnamon, cloves, berries, plums, tomatoes, apples, and cranberries. In small amounts, sodium benzoate is generally recognized as safe by the FDA.
Tea tree – Antifungal, antibacterial; hydrates dry skin, reduces itching and unpleasant odors.
Lavender – Balances sebum production, helps maintain the skin’s pH balance, and is antimicrobial. Highly calming; can make the skin appear more radiant, may help firm the face, tighten pores, and reduce blemishes. Antibacterial and antifungal.
Basil – Contains vitamin C; brightening and antimicrobial, cleanses and helps keep the skin clear.
Lemon – Antibacterial, antifungal; may reduce wrinkles; contains vitamin C, lutein, and carotene. Neutralizes odors, cleanses, and refreshes the skin.
Sage – Antibacterial; contains an antioxidant called rosmarinic acid that may help defend against free-radical damage. Can regulate sebum production, making it potentially suitable for oily skin types.
Clove – Antibacterial, antimicrobial, improves circulation; contains antioxidants, is antiseptic, and soothes irritation.
